Purpose
The general purpose of NAHEFA is
demonstrated by the following activities of NAHEFA:
- Informing the public about the programs,
activities and achievements of Higher Educational Facilities
Authorities and acting as a clearinghouse of information among the
Authorities themselves
- Keeping members fully informed about
Federal and State administrative
and legislative developments that
affect the programs of Higher Educational Facilities Authorities
and the growth and operation of such Authorities and assisting in
the exchange of information and news among such Authorities
- Assisting in the collection and
presentation of information to various segments of the financial
community, including rating agencies, for the purpose of assisting
the financial community to better understand the role of
Higher Educational Facilities Authorities
- Assisting in the formation and
implementation of effective governmental programs of assistance
for meeting higher education capital financing needs
- Presenting to concerned parties, the
policies or views of the Association and its members concerning
public issues relevant to the programs and operations of Higher
Educational Facilities Authorities.
The Association focuses its efforts on issues
which directly influence the availability of or access to tax-exempt
financing for higher educational institutions. In doing so, the
Association recognizes that it represents the member authorities which
are the tax-exempt bond issuers and does not represent specific higher
education institutions. Since 1990, NAHEFA members have issued over $35
billion of higher education bonds.
